Rescan Method

Since DonorHub Lite keeps a copy of your data, it must be frequently refreshed. For some source queries it may acceptable in terms of performance to simply return all the source rows every time. But consider donation information, as an example. You may have millions of donations records, so running a query that returns every donation record would be extremely inefficient to run every day. Therefore, DonorHub Lite supports different methods of limiting the scan range of subsequent running of the source queries.

Scan Range: From and To

Each source scanner has a scan range. A scan range is a set of two scan codes: "From" and "To". Every source scanner starts off with a scan range where "From" is blank and "To" is blank. Since a blank scan code in this context means no limit, every source scanner starts off with no limit to the scan range. This makes sense, because the first time you run a scanner, you'll need to initialize the data target will all your current data. If specified, the scan range will be limited by the Scan Range Minimum/Maximum.

This is a key point to understand:

After the scanner is run, the rescan method is used to automatically prepare the scanner's scan range for the next run.

In fact, this is the only way that the rescan method is used. The current scan range can be referred to by the "Source" Query and "Custom Delete Codes" Query via special built-in placeholders for "From" and "To".

When you select a method, a helpful hint will be displayed below in the yellow information panel. Here are the choices, along with the their corresponding helpful hints and a short note...

Rescan items tied to a date.

After a successful scan is run, "From" will be set to a date 30 days prior to the current date, and "To" will be set to the maximum scan range allowed.

Rescan changed items using a last changed date.

After a successful scan is run, "From" will be set to the largest change date found in the last scan, and "To" will be set to the maximum scan range allowed.

Rescan changed items using an increasing change number.

After a successful scan is run, "From" will be set to the largest change number found in the last scan, and "To" will be set to the maximum scan range allowed.
