How can an MPDX user transition all of their data into a new TntConnect database?

TntConnect 4.0.58 includes a feature for migrating in ALL of your data in MPDX to a new database.

First of all, make sure you're on the latest update.  Under the "Help" menu, click on "Check for Updates".

Here's how you can export your data in MPDX to an XML file:

If you don't see the "Export all data" section in your MPDX, it's probably because it's linked to a Cru account, and Cru has a policy against allowing you to export your data.  Sorry!

Once you receive the email from MPDX and download your XML file, in TntConnect, under the "File" menu, click on "Utilities" then click "New Database from XML..." and select that file.

This will start a process that creates a new database, based on your MPDX data.

Once you're settled in your new database, if you want to connect it with your organization to download new gifts, click the "Gift Input" button, select your organization, and then continue to follow the prompts.

Just a heads up, if you ever worked for Cru then the export all data button will not be visible. You need to email Cru. They will need to delete all of your donation data that was given to Cru on your behalf. Only then will this show back up. Just an idea, I created tabs for when each donor started giving. This way, I can thank them in the future when they have been with us for 10 years or more. The tabs should be exported into TNTconnect.

If anyone has any other ideas how to keep my (Cru's) donation history of gifts, please let me know.

I am having ZERO success uploading my XML file. Once I enter my own name in the system, it locks up saying that I must have a name or organization name in the file. HELP!

Hi Don,

Please send me your XML file (from MPDX) and I’ll debug this.  The MPDX Import feature in TntConnect is still new and has a few bugs that need to be worked out.

To send it to me securely, please upload it using this link:  www.dropbox.com/.../AAvdnm1pqUZ62HqYrvon

Thanks,

Troy

Hi Don,  Thanks for sending me your xml file.  This latest version (4.0.61) should resolve the issue:  www.tntware.com/.../73747.aspx

Hi Troy, I used TnTConnect 4.0 r61 and installed it using WinskinCX22.1.1-14 on macOS Ventura 13.5.2. When I double click on the TnTConnect icon to open up to application, it opens up; however, the entire screen is just blank green without any of the data loading. Also the File, Edit, View, Campaigns, Tools, and Help drop down are all frozen, as well as the icons beneath them.

I also restarted and shutdown, and tried opening the application. I also deleted the application and installed it again, still same thing as described above.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,  Check the Window menu to see if there's some prompt on some other (not currently connected) display.  It's just a hunch.  Follow-up on the forums, please.

How do we install TNTware on macbook computer?

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 4 Dec 2023 9:46 PM

@Tom, TntConnect requires either CrossOver or Wineskin to run on your Mac.  In the Download section, it explains this when you choose the latest version of TntConnect to install.  Re MPDX, ask Cru (techhelp@cru.org) why it's taking so long to get this email from their MPDX product.

@Troy,

You wrote above:

Yes, I was with Cru... SO, what is the next best method to export from my Cru MPDx account?

@DRock3, this is a question for the Cru MPDX team.

@Troy,

I guess a better way to ask this is: Since I can't export my donations data from my Cru MPDx account, how do I best import all my other MPDx contact data, etc from MPDx since I can't use the TnT XML feature & the Cru version MPDx Export All button?

Said another way, I know Cru MPDx has the ability to Export all Contact data (except donation data), but HOW do I then bring that data into TnTConnect since I can't use the XML tool you created?

Hi Troy,

It seems that, for my question above, I can:

1. Follow the regular import process with an Excel spreadsheet that you have a video for. OR

2. I can ask Cru to wipe all my donation data (as  Jeremy Adams Posted on 10-10-2023 11:59 PM).

Is one of these processes better than the other, or is there an even better way for me, as a former Cru staff using MPDx to transition to TnTConnect?

@DRock3, If you can export your contacts from MPDX to a CSV file, TntConnect can import contacts from a CSV file:  www.tntware.com/.../how-do-i-import-contacts-from-my-previous-database.aspx  The MPDX Export All button (to XML) and TntConnect's import from XML is way better than importing contacts from a CSV file. The XML export includes everything, including tasks, contacts, tags, etc.
