CSV donation report to TntConnect Datasync conversion tool
IMPORTANT NOTE: This tool is deprecated and starting with TntConnect 4.0.0 you will not be able to import reports generated with this tool into TntConnect. TntWare has announced that they removed the functionality to import from a file in favor of requiring organizations to use DonorHub or users to manually import gifts. Instead I recommend talking to your organization about using TntWare's DonorHub service which works with Quickbooks as well as numerous other accounting and donation management software. Unfortunately it isn't free, but it provides a better service than this tool can since it allows for daily updates of donations and account balances which sync directly with your donor tracking software (TntConnect, MPDX, etc). For more information about this change please go here. This tool will remain up, but only versions of TntConnect prior to 4.0.0 will work with it.

https://tnt.clcusa.org/

This online tool is designed to help the hundreds of missionaries who receive reports of their donations from their organizations using QuickBooks or other tool which generates csv reports.  All your organization needs to do is send you the report in .csv format which can be done by checking one box when the report is created.  Workers from at least 14 different organizations are now using the tool!

If you would like your company added to the tool so that you can use this tool to automatically import your gifts to TntMPD then go to https://tnt.clcusa.org/instructions.html for more information.

Compatibility: This tool is natively compatible with CSV reports from the following programs. If you would like to have native compatibility added for other software, please contact me.

  • Quickbooks
  • Araize Fastfund
  • Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
  • Blackbaud eTapestry
  • AGWM ISSQL
  • Generic (see documentation)

I highly recommend first importing your TntMPD datasync file into a blank database to make sure it works properly before importing it with your live database.

Recent Changes:

  • Added [FILE] section to maintain compatibility with 3.5+ versions of TNTConnect
  • Fixed long file bug. Large files (up to 512kb) are able to be imported.
  • Tested with TntMPD 3.x successfully.
  • Now works with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge CSV gift reports.
  • Now works with Araize Fastfund CSV gift reports.
  • Now works with Blackbaud eTapestry CSV gift reports.
  • Can now import all fields (address, email, phone, gifts, etc.) that TntMPD will receive.  (See documentation)
  • Now works with AGWM ISSQL file types.

Coming Soon:

  • Working on bug where csv files created or manipulated in Apple systems don't properly recognize line endings.

It’s nice to see you have made something to quickly import into tntMPD.  Thanks!

It should be able to be used with ANY .csv file, if we knew all the Quickbooks report fields required & their meanings.  I tried to load a dummy .csv file with the info you gave on your website, but it came back empty.  Can you please give us the the Fields names & their descriptions of the Quickbooks donation report .csv so we can look at it & set up our reports to create them?  Or a sample to download, if it’s just striped of data & has the headers & one row of dummy data, that would work just fine.

Definitely.  I'm working on a writeup that explains the formatting of the csv file, but yes, it will work with more than quickbooks.  As long as you can produce a CSV file with the same format it will work.

Works great with TntMPD 3.0 beta.  Please report bugs to tnt@clcusa.org or message me.

Is this able to be used on the latest TnTMPD 3.0 r.21 version?

Yes, it works with all new versions of TntMPD.  We just need to get your company information in the tool so that it fills in the correct company information

The download link for this conversion tool isn't working.  It sends me to a "404 Error file not found" page.  Is this download still available?

OK, fixed it.

Not currently, but if they can send you a CSV report then you will be able to use the tool.  We will need to do an initial setup, so click the download link and then "Instructions" and send me an email with the information needed in "One-time Setup" and we'll get you setup.

Would you be able to add Xero accounting package to your native compatibility please?

objecttothis wrote re: CSV donation report to TntMPD Datasync conversion tool

@jwsugars I may be able to do this, but I will need the details of the csv file that it outputs.  The ideal situation is if it can generate csv reports that already carry the correct header information and data found at www.clcusa.org/.../instructions.html but if we need to come up with something custom I can work with you on that.

On the Converter page (after pressing download), what is the Employee ID number? Does it matter what number I put in there?

objecttothis wrote re: CSV donation report to TntMPD Datasync conversion tool

@jwsugars if you are submitting a csv report that contains more than one employee's donations then you need to enter the employee identifier that is used to differentiate between what donations to include in the resulting tntmpd file.

If you are just submitting a csv report that contains one employee's donations then you can put anything in that field but I recommend using the same value each time.  I usually use last name but it doesn't have to be that.

Hello.  I have tried to access the www.clcusa.org/tnt/ website and get only this error message: [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Is was working not long ago.  Is it working for anyone else?

It looks like this tool is no longer available.  Please contact me (troy@tntware.com) for information about how DonorHub can help you flow donation data into TntConnect.

Sorry, I am not sure what happened. I will look into why it's down in the morning.

Sorry for the down time of the tool.  I was not aware that the website was being migrated and the tool was not copied over.  The tool will now be located at http://tnt.clcusa.org and should be up shortly.

At the moment the tool does not add the [File] section to the converted file. Will this cause tnt 3.5.15 to refuse the file?

objecttothis wrote re: CSV donation report to TntMPD Datasync conversion tool
on 28 Feb 2019 5:44 AM

@James Loewen thank you for the heads up.  I was not aware of this change.  I just installed 3.5.15 on my computer and tested it.  TntConnect gives you a warning that it doesn't include information that it wants but allows you to continue.  I will make changes to my code before the April 15th deadline.  For now when it tells you that the date range isn't provided and asks if you want to continue, just choose yes and it will work just fine.

@James Loewen @Troy Wolbrink

The tool has been updated to include the [FILE] section that 3.5.15+ requires.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I just saw a note that Todd made in a forum question about the coming change. He pointed out to the person that version 3.5 will continue to function and those who wish to continue using the manual download system will be able to as long as they don't upgrade.  I wonder if this makes a difference for you and the maintenance of the conversion tool?

objecttothis wrote re: CSV donation report to TntConnect Datasync conversion tool

@James Loewen I have agreed to keep the tool up for those of us in organizations that do not have the budget, manpower or the desire to switch to a paid solution. I have upgraded the description of the tool to note that people can continue using the tool as long as they remain on a version of TntConnect before 4.0.0.

It's probably important to note that Troy will not likely continue to support or provide patches for versions prior to 4.0.0 and it is not clear whether a database converted to 4.x or later can be reverted.
