Incidentally, we were struggling with making MS Outlook 2016 work with GMail. Following these instructions allowed us to set up MS Outlook 2016 to "play well" with GMail.

I would note that the "From" line is directly tied to how the email address is setup. The explanation on the GiveSite SMTP settings was helpful in getting this figured out.
