How do I get past, "*SQL Server*Login failed for user '*'"?

Be sure to type in the correct password.  If you don't know your password, you should contact your SQL Server administrator.  Or if you are the administrator, open up SQL Server Management Studio and change your password to something you can remember.

If SQL Server is installed on your computer, it might help to right-click on the icon and choose "Run as administrator":

Once you're in SQL Server Management Studio this way, you can go into "Security" and then "Logins" and change the password for most logins (just not the logins based on Windows user accounts).

How do I open up SQL Server Management Studio?

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 24 Aug 2011 6:49 PM

Assuming you have it installed ... Start | Programs | Microsoft SQL Server | SQL Server Management Studio.

There's an option to install the express version of it when you install DonorWise.

I am not clear on how to create my first DonorWise Database. I try to "Connect to Server" with Windows Authentication and without. If the latter, I use the username and password I created when I went through the installation process. Neither works. It is not clear from the instructions above just what I do in the SQL Server Management Studio (Express) to get things going. Can you give some more detail? Thanks---Matt

For your first database you create, you should probably un-check "Windows Authentication" and login using "sa" and the password you provided when installing SQL Server.

How I can restore the username and password for one Donorwise's Database ?

By: DiscipleshipJourneyswithJesus Posted on 4 Jul 2017 7:40 PM

Troy,

I have used all the variations of passwords, I used the one I initially set up the SQL with and nothing works. I do not see any option to change your password. Help? I would love to use this program as I already use TNT Connect.Frustrating to not see where or how to get it working.

As this article shows, you can often right-click on SQL Server Management Studio, "Run as Administrator", and then you can go into "Security" and "Logins" to change any password you want for any user.
