As you're getting ready for the end of the year, I'd strongly encourage you to download and install TntMPD 2.1 r9.  A very important new feature it has, is that it will catch many more partners who haven't been thanked in some time and automatically schedule a thank-you task when they give.  The end of the year is usually a busy time with giving, so upgrade to TntMPD now to better ensure that none of your partners is overlooked and underthanked!

New CrossOver beta for Mac users!  CrossOver is a product that make it possible to run Windows applications on your Macintosh (or Linux) computer.  Up until recently, running TntMPD on your Mac via CrossOver has been hit or miss.  But recently someone with the CrossOver team contacted the TntMPD community to let us know that they have made efforts to make TntMPD run better on CrossOver!  If you're interested in testing this out:

    Merry Christmas from TntWare!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this new release, you'll find two dozen bug fixes and more than 50 new features and enhancements based primarily on feedback from TntMPD users like you! TntMPD ventures out into other operating systems (Windows Vista, Macintosh, Linux)!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TntMPD now fully supports installing and running on Windows Vista.

On the Macintosh, you currently have 5 different options! Running TntMPD on Virtual PC has always been reported to be a painfully slow experience. But now Macintosh computers are shipping with Intel chips, and this is speeding things up significantly in terms of running TntMPD. These options are covered in the section "Ways to run TntMPD on your Macintosh..." on this page:
    http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/install_or_upgrade.htm

Support for Linux and Macintosh via a product called CrossOver is being worked on. This work is mostly being done for the Macintosh, but it seems to be working for Linux as well. I have been testing this on a Mac Mini and Ubuntu Linux, both with good results. Although this is still considered "experimental", I see running TntMPD on CrossOver as having the most potential for integrating well with the operating system and other applications. Until I remove the "experimental" status, it's probably good to stick with another solution such as Boot Camp or Parallels. But if you're very motivated to help with testing and feedback, more information can be found here:
    http://download.tntware.com/tntmpd/manuals/crossover_mac/running_tntmpd_on_crossover_mac.htm

TntMPD Speaks Five Languages! That's still not enough...
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TntMPD speaks 5 languages: Spanish, German, Russian, French and English! If you're fluent in another language and an avid user of TntMPD, we could use your help! Translating TntMPD into another language is not complicated, and should not be too time consuming. If you have the language skills, and availability, you can be used to open doors for hundreds of missionaries who aren't able to use TntMPD. Think about it: It is estimated that TntMPD saves each missionary who uses it about 4 hours of administrative tasks per month. Now multiply those 4 hours per month times 100s of missionaries. Please pray how God might use you this way. If you're interested, please contact Troy Wolbrink at: troy.wolbrink@ccci.org

Are you getting an error message about missing "Microsoft CryptoAPI for COM 2.1"?
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A recent security update to Microsoft Windows XP was release last week that may cause the following error message when you start TntMPD: "This program requires Microsoft CryptoAPI for COM 2.1.". There are several different ways to resolve this issue:

    1. If you've already installed this latest version of TntMPD, just click on "Yes" to repair TntMPD's installation.
    2. Upgrade TntMPD to this latest version.
    3. Under the "Start" menu, click on "Run...". Copy paste the following text and click OK:
    regsvr32 capicom.dll
    4. Repair TntMPD's installation. This option is available in the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel in Windows.

  • TntMPD 2.0 r22
    New and improved TntMPD 2.0!

Since TntMPD 2.0 was released a few months ago, many new features and improvements have been added. The Tasks and History lists can now be sorted by any column by just clicking on the column header. And for history items that have notes, a notes icon will appear and while your mouse hovers over it, the notes for that history record will appear. The Contacts and Groups screens have been redesigned to help make the subtle distinction between "Current Lookup", "Current Group" and "Saved Groups" more clear. Also, a button has been added to the Groups screen to sort saved groups by name. TntSync and TntTranslator have been improved. And many bugs have been discovered and resolved.

To upgrade, click on "Check Web for Updates" under the "Help" menu in TntMPD, or you may click here:
    http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/install_or_upgrade.htm
NOTE: The system requirements for TntMPD 2.0 have been raised to Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

    TntMPD Speaks Five Languages!

A French translation has been introduced in this latest version! The German and Russian translation have been updated. Also, many other changes have taken place to help TntMPD adapt more readily to other international cultures. As always, let me know if you'd like to help translate TntMPD into your language. TntMPD speaks 5 languages: Spanish, German, Russian, French and English!

  • TntMPD News (9-29-2005)
If you'd like to learn more about how to make the most out of TntMPD, or if you just want to learn how to get started, some new online guides are now available on the TntWare website.

Bob Macleod, Communications Director of CCCI's Financial Services Group, has been very busy this last summer. Not resting after putting together the "Exploding TntMPD" manual, he started his summer by taking a survey to study what the average TntMPD user really needs help with. The results of that survey are here:
    http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/faq/2005survey/tntmpd_survey_results_summary.htm
    http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/faq/2005survey/

Then he created some very nice printable condensed reference guides for TntMPD. Many of you at CCCI's staff conference may have already received this in printed form. And now it's also available for online viewing at:
    http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/userguides.htm

Thank you, Bob, for your hard work and dedication!

Do you have a heart for helping people? An older CCC staff member is in need of help getting started with TntMPD. He would NOT describe himself as being computer literate, and would therefore need someone with alot of patience. It would be great if you're in the Boston area or the Fort Worth area. But if not, he might be willing to fly to you. If you're interested, please contact Troy Wolbrink at: troy.wolbrink@ccci.org

  • New TntMPD add-on to help with mass emails
Someone recently developed an add-on for TntMPD to help with doing mass emails. Sometimes merging through Word might be overkill or even unavailable. In this case, you should check out "Mass Email Add-On for TntMPD (MEAT)".

Here's a link (includes documentation and screenshots):
    http://daniel.sourceforge.net/tntmpd/meat/

It is designed to help you quickly and easily create a new mass email (i.e. email newsletter/update) to a group of contacts using your favorite email program. It will work with any email program (ie. doesn't require Outlook).

Thanks go to Jason Maas from DiscipleMakers for developing this solution.
