Why does TntMPD for the Mac not start up, and how can I get past it?

1.  Make sure you meet the minimum requirements for Mac OS X.
(On your Mac, click the Apple menu, and then click on "About this Mac" to determine your version.)

  • Leopard (10.5.8)
  • Snow Leopard (10.6.4)
  • Lion (10.7.0)

2.  Try restarting your Mac.

3.  Try reinstalling the latest TntMPD for Mac:

  • Delete TntMPD from your "Applications" folder.
  • Empty the Mac Trash can (restart if you can't remove all items).
  • Reinstall TntMPD into your "Applications" folder:

4.  Try an older version of TntMPD for Mac (2.1.56):

Note this older version requires XQuartz 2.6.0 or newer.  Under "Applications/Utilities", click on "XQuartz" (or "X11" if XQuartz doesn't exist).  Then, under the "X11" menu, click on "About X11" to check the version.

5.   You might try upgrading your Mac OS X.  Someone has reported that upgrading from 10.6.8 to 10 .7 resolved their TntMPD startup issue.

If all else fails...

Finally, there are some other options to consider such as using CrossOver Mac which provides a very similar experience as TntMPD for the Mac, but it comes with commercial support:
