How can I run TntConnect on my Mac via CrossOver?

Hi Troy! Which version of CrossOver do I need to run TnT on macOS Catalina? Will I be fine buying the "One Version" for $39.95? Or will I eventually need upgrades longterm and have to get "One Lifetime" for $499.95?

Hi Cameron, Your choice really depends on what you want.  If you buy "one version", you may have to buy the next new version if some future version of macOS or TntConnect require it.  In a few years, this is probably going to be the case.  If you want to pay $499.95 now, you'll never have to pay for CrossOver again.  Or you can just pay $39.95 every year or two.  It's your call.

Howdy Troy, Thanks so much for your work on TNT for Mac. It works great with Crossover!

Re: CrossOver tech support - that's only included if people buy the one-year license, *not* the one-version license.

I downloaded Crossover for my Mac in early 2020. CodeWeavers sent me an email indicating my Crossover license is expiring in two weeks: "We appreciate you and hope you’ve enjoyed using CrossOver. Renew today and get 50% off the regular price and 12 Months of support and upgrades. In two weeks when your license expires, your existing copy of CrossOver will continue running, but you will not longer be able to unlock the newest release of CrossOver or receive technical support." Should I do this if I want to continue using Tnt? Thank you.

Hi CareyN, I'd recommend maintaining your CrossOver license with the latest.  There have been lots of changes taking place on MacOS lately, and until the dust settles, you'll need the latest version of CrossOver at some point.

Hi Troy - It's been a couple years the last time I updated my mac so I just did a month ago to Big Sur 11.6. That's when I discovered TnTConnect no longer worked. So it looks like I need to buy the Crossover app to run the Windows version? Was this the only or best option you are suggesting? I was just wondering because I have been told about other programs that also allow Windows software to run on mac. Once I get all updated do I assume the new TnTConnect version will automatically locate and use my previous database so I don't loose? Thank you for your help!

Hi Steve, CrossOver is now required to run TntConnect on your Mac.  This gives you a very similar experience to the "TntConnect for Mac" of a few years ago.  CrossOver is not the only way, you can also run a virtual Windows machine using Parallels or VMware.  When you run TntConnect via CrossOver it should be able to locate your database you were last using.  Your settings should migrate over.

Hi, I've just discovered that crossover no longer works on my mac.  Do you see a time in the near future when we will be able to use TNT without crossover again?

I'd rather not purchase crossover again if it's just going to run out at some point.  I can't afford the $500 - especially if TNT won't need it at some point.

Hi Catherine, The requirement for CrossOver will be long term. In 2021 we revisited TntConnect’s experience on macOS. We explored the possibility of removing the requirement for CrossOver, but we found this to be unpractical. Realizing that our partnership with CrossOver will be long term, we invested several months of development into improving this experience. We improved the installation experience, and we improved the start up time and reliability of TntConnect when running on the latest macOS versions via CrossOver, including testing with the new M1 chip.  --Troy
